CSX 2 Bridge Reconstruction: Worthington Road (SR112) over CSX Railroad

 Huntington, MA

SPS New England, under a $4.2 Million Dollar Design/Build Contract with MassDOT, is reconstructing a historic bridge over the CSX Railroad in Huntington, Massachusetts. This project is part of the comprehensive multi-year rail transportation agreement between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and CSX, designed to expand commuter rail service, strengthen the State's transportation infrastructure, and improve the Commonwealth's competitive position in the global economy. The work will increase the vertical clearance at this location to allow double stacked freight cars to move from Albany, New York to Worcester, Massachusetts while maintaining the historic nature of the bridge. This project is currently moving through the design process and into construction with an anticipated completion date at the end of 2012.
