Reconstruction of Pleasant Street over the Blackstone River, Grafton, MA
This project was one of the first design build projects to be awarded as part of MassDOT’s Accelerated Bridge Program. The scope of work included complete removal of the existing historic stone arch bridge that spans the Blackstone River and construction of a new precast arch bridge founded on piles. During the demolition process, the existing arch stones were carefully removed, catalogued, and reset onto the precast bridge fascia in their exact original position and pattern to preserve the historic integrity of the bridge. SPS successfully completed this $4.2M project in an astounding 92 days from start to finish.
