I-93/I-95 Interchange Reconstruction

This project, part of MassDOT’s Route 128 “Add-a-Lane” series of projects to widen Interstate 95 from Braintree to Needham, included the replacement and widening of three interstate bridges over the Amtrak commuter railway, the Neponset River and University Avenue, as well as full depth highway widening between the bridges to accommodate an additional travel lane for this heavily traveled section of Route 128. In addition to the bridge replacements, SPS successfully installed over 21,000 linear feet of precast concrete piles, 16,000 square feet of Mechanically Stabilized Earth retaining walls, 5,000 feet of permanent concrete barrier, new drainage, detention ponds and treatment areas, and new overhead highway signs.
