Heavy Highway and Bridge Construction

Rehabilitation of Route 1A over the Hampton River

Hampton, NH

SPS successfully replaced the concrete bridge deck and sidewalks of this 1,800 linear foot structure which spans the Hampton River from Seabrook to Hampton a full 8 months ahead of schedule. By analyzing the actual construction duration from the first 2 phases of NHDOT’s 4 phase project, SPS used detailed schedule analysis and aggressive planning to combine the final 2 phases into 1 thereby reducing the overall duration of the project and opening the bridge to the traveling public earlier than planned. Other work associated with this project included installation of automated safety barrier crash gates including structural steel platforms, replacement of the timber and steel fender system below the lift span, expansion joint rehabilitation and concrete repairs to the bridge abutments.
