Lights, action, camera … coffee

HAVERHILL - The National Geographic Channel spent a week photographing SPS New England crews for an upcoming 21-part series called “Shadow Works: the forgotten people who work at night.”

The producer, Carly Jacobs, and her film crew braved harsh New England winds and freezing temperatures as they filmed employees wielding jackhammers and operating heavy equipment while performing bridge repairs on interstate highways in Haverhill and Medford. Dressed in hard hats and orange safety vests, the film crew shivered and sipped hot coffee while filming for four nights in February.

Additional footage was shot at the home of employees Jay Turcotte, Derick Nathan and Tom Fuccione and also at SPS New England’s Salisbury headquarters.
